Step 1: Know the Meaning of Sister Size
Bra sister sizes are equivalent or alternate to your regular bra size. Every woman has a unique body and it is not necessary that a bra with standard sizing should fit them. There may be slight variations in the size and fit depending on their breast type and body structure and a bra with standard sizes may not fit them. That’s when sister sizes comes to the rescue! It fine tunes inconvenient fit issues to give you a more customized fit.
Why Is It Important to Know Your Regular Bra Size to Find out the Sister Size?1. Your bra size determines sister sizes
2. You can figure out sister sizes based on the fit of your regular bra
3. Sister sizes are derived from regular bra size for optimal fit
Step 2: Understand the Difference between Regular Bra Size and Sister Size
Regular bra size is derived by measuring your bust with a tape in inches. But a sister size is rundown from your regular bra size. Hence it is important to know your regular bra size to discover your sister size.
Step 3: Measure Your Bra Size
Finding out your bra size is plain sailing compared to discovering sister sizes. To find out bra size all you need do is note the over bust and under bust measurements using a measuring tape. Your under bust measurement gives you the band size. Deduct your under bust from over bust measurement to get the value for your cup size. For e.g., if there is one inch difference, the cup value is A and for 2 inches difference, the cup value is B and so on.
Step 4: Know When to Go for Sister Size
After finding out your regular bra size you can still have fit issues which can be both annoying as well as disappointing. Usually it is either the band or the cup that doesn’t fit and that’s when it's time to go for sister sizing. When both band and cups have issues the regular size itself is wrong and it should be derived by measuring your bust with a measuring tape.
1. Band fits but the cups have gaps - one cup size down one band size up
2. Band is loose but there is spillage at the sides - one band size down and one cup size up
3. Cups fit well but the band is tight - one band size up and one cup size down
4. While trying different brands - try sister sizes of regular bra size
5. You can also go for sister size if there is a change in bra style and neck pattern which is not fitting properly in your regular size
Step 5: Sister Size Measurement/Calculation
Finding sister size is not too difficult if you know your near-perfect bra size
When you go up a cup size, down comes the band size and vice versa.
For eg if your cups feel smaller while wearing a 34C bra you should try one sister size down which is 32D, it will give you a perfect fit. Rather if your band feels tight you should choose one sister size up which is 36B.
Can I try the same band size with a D cup? No. It’s simply because the cup size and band size are interrelated. If you choose 34D the band size will be bigger and will not fit you. And in case of tighter band issue you can’t wear a 36 C either.
Hence if your bra size is 34C the sister sizes are 32D and 36B
